Ecological Paradigm: Cooperation in Sustainable Forest Resource Management of Thai Community

Abstract

The research article aimed at proposing a model of ecological paradigm on the cooperation in sustainable forest resource management of Ban Huay Saphan Samakkhi Community, Nong Rong Subdistrict, Phanom Thuan District, Kanchanaburi Province. The study applied mix-methods research method by which the researcher collected and analyzed the acquire date. The quantitative data were analyzed by using the following percentage, frequency, mean, and standard deviation (S.D.). While the qualitative data were analyzed by means of content analysis and summarized the results according to the interview and focus group discussion. The results of the research are found that there are 4 aspects to a model of ecological paradigm on the cooperation in sustainable forest resource management of Ban Huay Saphan Samakkhi Community, Nong Rong Subdistrict, Phanom Thuan District, Kanchanaburi Province: 1) The sustainable forest management of Ban Huay Saphan Samakkhi Community must receive cooperation on forest resource management from community leaders, temples, schools, youth, and villagers; 2) On economic in which people live their lives according to the community way by relying on nature. A gathering of villagers to produce products distributing to the general public leading to the prevention of deforestation, resulting in a healthy forest and the sustainable conservation of community forest; 3) On society in which the operation of community forest management must be changed constantly as there is no fixed formula or management model, but one indicator to measure the success of management is the transmission of the mission on forest management from pioneer to the new generation; and 4) On environment in which the community has knowledge and understanding on the use to wisdom folk and body of knowledge to conserve the forest resource and forest of Ban Huay Saphan Samakkhi community which can be utilized in terms of food resources.
