The Development of a Learning Management Model with Integration of Group Learning and Problem Based Learning to Enhance Problem Solving Ability and Mathematics Learning Achievement of Undergraduate Students

Abstract
The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to develop the learning management model integrated with group learning and problem-based learning to enhance problem-solving ability and mathematics learning achievement of undergraduate schools; and 2) to assess the learning management model. The study applied research and development approach on academic year B.E. 2561. The study was divided into two phases: 1) The learning management model was developed with a group sample of 376 students and 116 teachers from government universities chosen by stratified random sampling within the region and Bangkok; and 2) An investigation of the results from using the learning management model with a group sample of students from King Mongkut's University of Technology Thonburi who were chosen by cluster sampling. A sample group was divided into 2 groups with 40 students in each group. The tools used to assess the efficiency of the learning management model included an achievement test on learning and mathematical problem-solving ability. The acquired data were examined using mean and standard deviation, while the pretest and posttest were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance.
From the study, the following results are found: 1) The learning management model is made up of principles, objectives, and learning management procedures, which are divided into six steps: (1) reviewing prior knowledge; (2) managing a learning group; (3) investigating the problem scenario; (4) obtaining and increasing knowledge; (5) reflecting on the problem solution; and (6) summary. 2) From the experiment, it is discovered that posttest of the group that used the learning management model has a higher learning achievement and mathematical problem-solving ability than the pretest with a statistical significance of 0.05 level.
