The Operational Potential According to the Role and Duty of the Village Health Volunteers in Rayong Province

Abstract
The article aimed at studying the operational potential according to the role and duty of the village health volunteers in Rayong province. This was a quantitative research with a group sample of 200 village health volunteers of Rayong province. The research instrument for collecting data was a questionnaire. The statistics used for analyzing the data were frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation (S.D.). From the study, it was found that most of the village health volunteers of Rayong province were female (77.5%) with an age between 36 – 45 years old (67.5%). The duration of being a village health volunteer was between 1 – 5 years (65.0%). Most of them had occupations of a farmer (80%), graduated from secondary school (77.5%) and were chosen to be the village health volunteer by proposing themselves (77.5%). The research study also found that the operational potential according to the role and duty of the village health volunteers in Rayong province was found to be overall at a moderate level ( = 3.49), and when considering each aspect, the aspect of disease prevention was at the highest level (
= 3.55), followed by providing knowledge and information (
= 3.52), health promotion (
= 3.50), and health care (
= 3.46), respectively. While health rehabilitation was at the lowest level (
= 3.44). It was found that the development of operational potential of the village health volunteers was operational development, knowledge development, development of participation and the development of community health work.
