Enhancing and Cultivating the Conscientious Values of Civic Political Culture

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the level of factors and Buddhadhamma that enhance and cultivate consciousness and values on values for civic political culture in Thailand; 2) to study the consciousness and values on civic political culture; 3) to explore factors influencing the consciousness and values on civic political culture; and 4) to propose a model for enhancing and cultivating consciousness and values on civic political culture. A questionnaire was used to obtain data from a sample group of 152 persons for the study. The data were analyzed using a Stepwise approach of multiple regression analysis and interviews with 18 experts. The study also made use of descriptive content analysis.


            From the study, the following results have been found: 1) The level of factors and Buddhadhamma that enhance and cultivate consciousness and values on civic political culture in Thailand revealed that people have opinions toward the enhancement and cultivation of consciousness and values on civic political culture in Thailand overall at a high level. People have opinions toward the Buddhadhamma for enhancing and cultivating consciousness and values on civic political culture overall at a high level. 2) The consciousness and values on civic political culture found that people have opinions toward the consciousness and values on civic political culture overall at a high level. 3) Factors influencing the consciousness and values on civic political culture showed the following factors: respect for diversity, social and public responsibility, and respect for others' rights, all have a statistically significant effect on civic political culture consciousness and values at the 0.05 level. The predictive factors influencing the consciousness and values on civic political culture equal to Adjusted R2 = 0.32. 4) A model for enhancing and cultivating consciousness and values on civic political culture comprise the following components: 1) Knowledge and Skills; 2) Attitudes and Values; and 3) Behavior.
