12 Tactics for Riding Elephant in Tamrakhotchakam of National Library of Thailand

Abstract

This research purposes are to 1) study 12 tactics for riding elephant in Tamrakhotchakam of National library of Thailand, 2) synthesis in the way to use, and 3) study Thai ancestor’s intellect in riding elephant. This research is qualitative research with composing as descriptive analysis. The content used in this study is Tamrakhotchakam which is the primary document keeping in manuscripts section in National Library Thailand, Department of Arts as 60 books. As the results, 1) 12 tactics for riding elephant in Tamrakhotchakam, National Library of Thailand version are Konkhichang Lau Plai Cheuk, Konkhichang Kam Lak Leu Lam, Konkhichang Mai Hat, Konkhichang Mi Kham Nam, Konkhichang Kliat Nam Mi Long Nam, Konkhichang Kliat Mai Klait Rong Kliat Talungbenpat, Konkhichang Namman Kam Nai Wongpat, Konkhichang Klangplaeng, Konkhichangnamman Lai MaLor Pan, Konkhichangnamman Lai Khon, Konkhichang Bamru-nga, and Konkhichangchonsuek. 2)12 tactics for riding elephant can be categorized as 3 categories that are: category 1 – common practice is preparing the elephant readiness for training by using legs or putting some equipment and to train the elephant for ceremony; category 2 – specific training is training for showing in the front of palace and fighting in war; category 3 – Konkhichangchonsuek. 3)These 12 tactics for riding elephant have reflected Thai intellect as a part of art and science since the past until recent.
