Strategies of Instructors’ Potential Development in Innovative Learning Method for Nursing Students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing Sanpasithiprasong

Abstract

This research article aimed at 1) studying the situations of innovative learning method for nursing students; 2) designing the strategies of instructors’ potential development in innovative learning method for nursing students at Boromarajonani College of Nursing Sanpasithiprasong (BCNSP); 3) implementing the strategies; and 4) evaluating the strategy for propriety, feasibility, and utilization. The study employed research and development design. Samples consisted of 169 nursing faculties and 12 key informants from 6 nursing colleges, 9 experts, and 9 BCNSP nursing faculties. The research instruments for data collection employed questionnaires, tests, interview forms and evaluation forms. The statistics were used to analyze quantitative data while the and content analysis was used for qualitative data. The research findings were as follows: 1) nursing instructors rated their perceived of health innovator characteristics at the highest level (x ̅==4.27) and knowledge of innovative thinking at medium level (x ̅==5.47). Qualitative analysis indicated Instructors’ potential were the strengths of innovative learning methods. On the other hand, the weakness is the lack of self-confidence in creative thinking and creating innovative value. Moreover, participants viewed that technological advancement was opportunities impacted innovative learning skills of nursing students. On the other hand, threats involved innovative learning strategies were a limited number of faculty and restrictions on government financial regulations; 2) The strategies of instructors’ potential development in innovative learning method for nursing students comprised 3 strategic groups: (1) Organizational development strategy consisted of 3 sub strategies, (2) Curriculum administration strategy consisted of 5 sub strategies, and (3) Learning facilities management is the strategy for developing innovative facility management sufficiently; 3) The result of experiment showed 9 successful nursing student innovation; 4) The constructed strategies showed the high level of propriety (x ̅==4.23), feasibility (x ̅==4.21), and utilization (x ̅==4.33).
