Communication Model for Reducing the Operational Risk of Public Health Volunteers in the Pandemic of the Covid 19 Virus in Yala Province

Abstract
The objectives of this research were as follows: 1) to study the communication processes; 2) to study the operational behavior; 3) to study communication factors affecting the behavior; and 4) to propose the communication model for operational risk reduction among public health volunteers Yala province during the Covid-19 virus pandemic. The study applied mix-methods research of qualitative and quantitative approaches. The key informants were representatives of agencies or organizations whose role were to promote and support the prevention of Covid-19 pandemic and twelve representatives from the village health volunteers (VHV) group. The sample was selected by mean of purposive sampling method. The research instruments included a semi-structured interview and in-depth interview assessment form. The obtained data were analyzed using descriptive analysis and mode analysis on the opinions of two-thirds of the experts. A sample group for the quantitative method comprised of 361 village health volunteers selected through simple random sampling from areas where COVID-19 infections had been detected. The tools used for data collection were questionnaires. The acquired data were analyzed by way of multiple linear regression and statistics, such as frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.). From the study, the following results are found: 1) The important communication processes are those at the policy, functional, and operational levels; 2) The important operational behavior is self-practice according to the Ministry of Health; 3) The important communication factors influencing the behavior include government measures and the gender of the message receivers; 4) The communication model for reducing operational risk refers to the model in which village health volunteers act as both sender and receiver of messages.
