The Organizational Commitment of Private School Teachers in Saraburi Province

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the organizational commitment of private school teachers in Saraburi province; 2) to compare the organizational commitment of private school teachers in Saraburi province; and 3) to study a guideline for promoting the organizational commitment of private school teachers in Saraburi province. The study was a mixed-method research. A sample used in the research was 292 teachers in private schools in Saraburi province per the academic year 2020 which was classified by the following statuses of the questionnaire respondents: gender, age, marital status, level of education, salary, operational status, and working period. The research was conducted by way of stratified random sampling. The research instruments for data collection were a questionnaire with the reliability of 0.955 and in-depth interview. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, average, standard deviation (S.D.), t-test, one-way ANOVA, post-hoc test by Sheffe's Method, and summary of the Content Analysis. From the study, it was found as follows: 1. Overall, the organizational commitment of private school teachers in Saraburi province was at a high level (gif.latex?%5Cbar%7Bx%7D = 4.16,S.D.=0.62), with the average in descending order i.e., safety in work, (gif.latex?%5Cbar%7Bx%7D = 4.30,S.D.=0.69) relationships with colleagues, ( gif.latex?%5Cbar%7Bx%7D = 4.26,S.D.=0.65) management policies, ( gif.latex?%5Cbar%7Bx%7D = 4.24,S.D.=0.65) stability and progress (gif.latex?%5Cbar%7Bx%7D = 4.09,S.D.=0.72) and compensation, ( gif.latex?%5Cbar%7Bx%7D =3.90, S.D.=0.76) 2. Overall, the compa- rison of the organizational commitment of private school teachers in Saraburi province classified by age, marital status, and working period found to be different with a statistical significance at the .05 level. When classified by gender, level of education, salary, and operational status, overall found no difference. 3. The guideline for promoting the organiza- tional commitment of private school teachers referred to the participation in the management, namely, the formulation of policy, vision, mission, and goals together.
