The Development Model of Buddhism Learning Management in Higher Education Institutions

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the situations of learning management in higher education institutions; 2) to study the problems of learning management in higher education institutions; and 3) to develop a model for Buddhism learning management in higher education institutions. The study applied a qualitative research method by studying the basic information, problems, and the development of a model for Buddhism learning management in four higher education institutions. The in-depth interview and focus group discussion with key informants were also used in the study. From the study, the following results are found: 1) The situations of learning management are according to the standard set by the Office of the Higher Education Commission. Furthermore, teachers and students have a friendly relationship. Regarding the problems of Buddhism learning management in higher education institutions, it has been discovered that students need to strengthen their basic Pali language skills. The results from the development of a model for Buddhism learning management are found in 3 aspects as follows: 1) A learning management model, import factors, and curriculum structure comprised of curriculum and curriculum management by administrators and responsible teachers. The study of fundamental information includes curriculum-based teaching and learning management, as well as the planning of activities for teaching and learning in order to develop students' competences. Based on the evaluation, students can apply a model for pursuing a career after graduation; 2) A triangle model is the development of Buddhist learning management that is applied with learning in the present time according to Trisikkhā (the Threefold Learning); and 3) Students should acquire the "3R 4C" double triangle models of the twenty-first century based on higher education standards as well as ethical standards according to Kalyāṇamitta principles.
