The Scenarios of the Characteristics of Early Childhood Teachers in the Next Decade (B.E. 2562 - 2572)

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the characteristics of early childhood teachers at present; 2) to study the scenarios of the characteristics of early childhood teachers in the next decade (B.E. 2562 – 2572); and 3) to present the scenarios of the characteristics of early childhood teachers in the next decade (B.E. 2562 – 2572). The study applied ethnographic delphi futures (EDFR) research. A sample group consisted of 21 experts related to the management of early childhood education. A study was divided into 3 phases: the 1st phase was to study the present characteristics of early childhood teachers; the 2nd phase was to study the scenarios of the characteristics of early childhood teachers in the next decade (B.E. 2562 – 2572); and the 3rd phase was to present the scenarios of the characteristics of early childhood teachers in the next decade (B.E. 2562 – 2572). The research instruments included 1) semi-structured interview and 2) a questionnaire with 5 rating scale. The statistics used for analyzing quantitative data were median, mode, interquartile ranges. The qualitative data were analyzed by way of content analysis. The results of the reach are as follows: 1) From studying the present characteristics of early childhood teachers, it is found that there are several organizations at the policy level that have set standards and quality of the early childhood teachers. 2) The scenarios of the characteristics of early childhood teachers in the next decade (B.E. 2562 – 2572) consist of 6 aspects which are 1) knowledge and competencies; 2) personality; 3) virtues and morality; 4) skills on seeking knowledge and the use of technology; 5) characteristics of creating body of knowledge on one’s own and self-development; and 6) learning environment management. 3) The scenarios of the characteristics of early childhood teachers in the next decade (B.E. 2562 – 2572) have the tendencies at the highest level and possibility at a high level. The 6 aspects are consistent with the tendencies and possibilities at the highest level and at a high level in all aspects.
