Rebranding image in Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia under Chinese influence

Abstract
The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the changing of image of Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia; and 2) to present the roles of China in changing the image of Sihanoukville Province, Cambodia. The conceptual framework used was the building of a location brand. This was a qualitative research by means of studying the documents and analyzing the data by content analysis. The research results found that 1) the government of Cambodia has set the goals for developing and designing the image of Sihanoukville Province with four development goals as follows: (1) a gateway city to trade and investment network, (2) a center city of transportation and logistics, (3) a city of industrial hub, and (4) a city of tourism and services; 2) The roles of China in changing the image of Sihanoukville Province consist of 2 aspects: (1) the role of trade and investment in the form of foreign direct investment, and (2) the role in providing assistance for developing Sihanoukville Province.
