Development of Social-Service Instructional Model to Encourage the Public Mind of the Grade 8th Students

Abstract

The objectives of the study were (1) to develop the instructional model involving social service in order to encourage the public mind of the grade 8th students and (2) to investigate the effectiveness of the instructional model involving social service in order to encourage the public mind of the grade 8th students The methodology of this study consisted of 3 phases as followed: (1) to study the context, current conditions, concepts, theories, and researches relating to the instructional model in the way of social service; (2) to develop the instructional model involving social service in order to promote the public mind of the grade 8th students; (3) to investigate the effectiveness of the instructional model involving social service in order to encourage the public mind of the grade 8th students at Sa Wai Jeek Pittayakhom School  in the 2nd semester in the academic year 2018. The 35 subjects were selected with purposive sampling. The tools used for collecting data were the reflexive-mind records of students conforming to evaluation form of public mind. Mean and standard deviation were employed to analyze data.


          The finding showed as followed. 1. There were 6 components of the instructional model involving social service in order to encourage public mind; that is, (1) concepts and principal theories, (2) objectives, (3) procedures of the learning model, (4) social system, (5) principle of reaction, (6) support system. It was found that there were 4 main procedures of the service learning model which consisted of preparation, action, reflection and celebration. 2. The evaluation of public mind of the grade 8th students showed that the students had the public mind quality at high level. Besides, the results from reflexive-mind records showed that the instructional model was suitable for encouraging the public mind of the students properly.
