Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the Dhamma and principles for enhancing the stability of family according to Buddhism; 2) to analyze the process of enhancing the stability of family according to Buddhism; and 3) to integrate the Dhamma in enhancing the stability of family for inexperienced parents in Thai society. The results of the research can be concluded as follows: 1) The Dhamma and principles for enhancing the stability of family according to Buddhism can bring about success to the family through the patterns of life which allow members of the family to live their lives in the society efficiently. 2) The parent competencies in performing good parental duties, the ability to raise up the children well, the ability to let the children receive a good education, the ability to teach children to be a good person, the ability to cultivate children to be aware of freedom for the family such as having a good attitude about family, creating family activities, taking the children to the temple, preparing for being new parenthood, and being informed about equality in various dimensions e.g., gender equality, equality in thinking, family equality, and the equality in joint decision making, etc. 3) The Buddhadhamma is able to enhance the stability in the family starting from choosing a partner, getting married as a husband and wife, taking care of each other, being a parent, raising up children, enhancing the auspiciousness for children, integrating the Maṅgala (highest) blessings into practice for inexperienced parents, whereas at the meantime, being aware of the children’s relationship with the outside society and understanding the social morality. Having a life partner is considered a milestone, a significant change that brings about a new position and duty.
