Abstract

This article was written in the midst of The Coronavirus disease COVID-19 pandemic. The World is facing a global epidemic in over 180 countries worldwide and more than a hundred thousand deaths have been recorded. Thailand has suffered in health, economic, and social factors due to government measures that were issued to control and prevent infection. Suicide cases have been reported due to the financial pressure resulting from the lack of income due to shut in measures. Besides health concerns, Covid-19 has mental and social health implications. Negative news creates a toxic environment for those who are already mentally sensitive. This article highlights examples of ways to build strong spirits for the people of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, which called “UG5” or Universal Goodness, including cleanliness, orderliness, politeness, punctuality, and meditation. Wat Phra Dhammakaya follows these principles for prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation during the Covid-19 pandemic. In accordance with the Buddhist Dhamma principles with sampajānā 4, puññakiriyavatthuṃ 3, and bhāvanā 4, being responsible for oneself, society, and the nation is the best practice to quickly and safely pass through this crisis.
