Antecedents Affecting the Success of Trade in Nong Khai Special Economic Zone

Abstract
The research article aimed to study the following: 1) the factors on public policy, Thai-Laos border trade, the management, product cost, participation, success in Nong Khai special economic zone; 2) the influences of factors on public policy, Thai-Laos border trade, the management, product cost, participation towards the success in Nong Khai special economic zone; and 3) a model or the guidelines for successful trading in Nong Khai special economic zone. The study applied both quantitative and qualitative research methods. A sample group for quantitative research included traders in Nongkhai Customs Boundary Post, Thai-Laos border. The sample size was determined by Taro Yamane's method in a total of 300 persons by means of stratified sampling. The quantitative data were analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation (S.D.), and multiple linear regression method. While a sample group for qualitative research included 15 persons who were related in the area. The data was collected by the structured interview and analyzed by content analysis. The results of the research are found as follows: 1) The factors on public policy, Thai-Laos border trade, the management, product cost, participation, success in Nong Khai special economic zone are at a high level; 2) Only the influence of participation affects the success in Nong Khai special economic zone. Other factors do not have any effect, which is similar to the result of the qualitative research acquired from interviewing with the related persons; and 3) The guidelines for successful trading in Nong Khai special economic zone must emphasize the following: the public relation must be carried out clearly and thoroughly, the cooperation between government agencies and private organizations, and people are able to inquire or make a complaint on problems with the government agencies.
