The Development on Supervising System for Deputy Directors of Colleges under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission

Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop and evaluate the appropriateness of coaching and supervising system for newly promoted deputy directors of vocational colleges. The population and sampling used for coaching and supervising system development with the quantitative data collection by questionnaires were 216 newly appointed deputy directors, 149 directors working with those newly appointed deputy directors, and the heads of department working under those newly appointed deputy directors. Sample random was used. For the evaluation of the appropriateness of the supervising system, qualitative data collection was used. The appropriateness evaluation form by 11 experts and performance competency evaluation form by 20 selected supervisors were collected. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage, average score, S.D, and IOC. The development of coaching and supervising system for newly promoted deputy directors consisted of 3 processes which were 1) The preparation before coaching and supervising consisting of 1.1) Coaching and supervising system development 1.2) Course development for supervisor 1.3) Selection of participants for the training course, 2) The implementation on coaching and supervising consisting of 2.1) Coaching and supervising planning and 2.2) Coaching and supervising operation, and 3) The monitoring after coaching and supervising consisting of 3.1) Performance evaluation and 3.2) Performance report by using ICT. The research revealed that the coaching and supervising system evaluation by specialists showed the appropriateness of the system at the highest level and the evaluation on the use of the system showed the performance of newly appointed deputy directors at the good level.
