An Analysis of Buddhist Peaceful Means for Duty Performance Motivation of Nursing Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the concepts, theories on nursing students' duty, 2) to study the concepts of Buddhist peace, motivation methods for nursing duties, and 3) to analyze Buddhist peaceful means for duty performance motivation of nursing students. This research is a documentary research. The research results show that


             1) Nursing is the process of arts and science in health care of patient’s body and mind basing on the principle of safe, promoting good health of people and society regardless of gender, age, race, religion, social position and political rights. The nurse legally must be licensed in Healing Arts Practices Act, Nursing Science. Besides, the nurse should have teamwork skills effectively. 2) The Buddhist peace means in the nursing performance motivation as follows: (1)  Brahmavihārās 4 (Four sublime states of mind)  (2) Iddhipāda 4 (path of accomplishment) and (3) Sangahavatthu 4 (bases of social solidarity) 3) An analyze Buddhist peaceful means for duty performance motivation of nursing students can be analyzed as following: Brahmavihārās 4 (Four sublime states of mind) promotes love, compassion, and inner peace of nursing student in duty performance for patient based on happiness, Iddhipāda 4 (path of accomplishment) promotes duty performance of nursing students more successfully and effectively, and Sangahavatthu 4 (bases of social solidarity) promotes good relationship with co-workers and creating happiness in the area of working and studying. Therefore, the three Buddhist peace means can motivate and support nurses in duty performance and cooperation in the workplace more effectively and happily. Besides, the patient receives the good treatment and service.
