Strategic Management of Academic Affairs in the Digital Age of Educational Institutions under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study the components and indicators of academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission; 2) to study the current conditions and desirable states of academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission; and 3) to develop strategies for the academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission. The study applied mixed-methods research. A group sample was selected by means of stratified sampling consisting of directors, deputy directors, and supervisors, in a total of 272 persons from 34 colleges. The research instruments were interview form and questionnaire with the reliability equal to 0.93. The statistics used were percentage, means, standard deviation (S.D.), and Priority Needs Index Modified (PNI Modified). The results of the research are as follows: 1) There are 5 aspects to the components and indicators of academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission which are 1) The development of teachers, 2) Supervision, 3) The development of multimedia, 4) The management of an online learning and teaching, and 5) The development of online curriculum. 2) The current conditions of academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission overall are found to be at a moderate level. While the desirable states of academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission overall are found to be at the highest level. 3) There are 5 strategies for the academic administration in the digital age of educational institutions under the office of the vocational education commission: the 1st strategy on developing teachers to have potential in technology and digital media; the 2nd strategy on increasing the efficiency of supervision on education with information technology and digital media; the 3rd strategy on increasing the quality of multimedia to the international standards; the 4th strategy on increasing the efficiency of the learning and teaching management for the digital age; and the 5th strategy on developing the curriculum to match the needs to develop the country through information technology and digital media.
