The Application of Sufficiency Economy Philosophy for Developing the Monasteries and Communities in Khonkaen Province

Abstract

       


The aims of this research were 1) to study the concepts and principles of community development of monasteries and communities in Khon Kaen Province 2) to study the application of the sufficiency economy philosophy in the development of monasteries and communities in Khon Kaen province and 3) to create network of monasteries and communities in applying the sufficiency economy philosophy in community development in Khon Kaen Province. This study was the qualitative research between documentary and indept-interview method. The collected data were analyzed in favor of interpretation with descriptive analysis and inductive method.


The results of Research were as follow:


1) The concepts and principles of community development of monasteries and communities in Khon Kaen Province, it was found that the history of the concepts and principles of community development of monasteries  and communities in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province are 5 concepts which are 1) Concept of creating a quality society
2) concept for creating an intellectual society, 3) concept for creating a moral society,
4) concept for creating a social society, and 5) concept for creating partnership and network.


2) The application of the sufficiency economy philosophy in the development of monasteries and communities in Khon Kaen province, it was found that divided into 3 levels which are 1) basic level 2) group level and 3) network level. The application according to the philosophy of sufficiency economy or is the appropriate decision using the principles of the sufficiency economy, making decisions based on three circles and two conditions, with the aim of balanced and sustainable development.


3) The network progress of monasteries and communities in applying the sufficiency economy philosophy in community development in Khon Kaen Province, it was found the 5 ways, namely 1) joint initiatives and actions 2) internal cooperation 4) cooperation with external agencies and 5) network for common goals. The result of network led to the collaboration between monasteries and communities in using resources and exchanging innovations for sustainable development.
