The Transformational Leadership Development Model of the Village Headman in the Lower Northeastern Region

Abstract

The research article aimed to (1) investigated the transformational leadership of the village headman. (2) developed the model and (3) evaluated the model. The sample of the study were 378 village headmen in the Lower Northeastern acquired by Taro Yamane's formula. The research instruments were questionnaires, focus groups and model evaluation. Collected data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, and content analysis. The research findings were as follows; 1. The transformational leadership of the village headman was found to be at a moderate level. 2. The development model consisted of: 2.1 leadership developed by development of leadership maturity, commitment to work, caring for the people and ethics; 2.2 operational developed by development of dominance, peace, criminal-related matters, registration, perform duties as assigned, support services, communicable disease prevention and conservation of natural resources; 2.3 self-potential developed by development of operational capability, vision, management, creative and thinking outside the box; 2.4 cooperation by development of creating cooperation with the people, stimulate the people to make sacrifices, creating a shared vision, stimulate the ability of the team and team development. 3. The model assessed by experts resulted in a highest level of suitability and a higher level of possibility.
