Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the problematic condition of the students at Rajamangala University of Technology Isan, Khon Kaen campus, Khon Kaen province; and 2) to study the dhamma principles in order to apply to the students’ living. The study was conducted by three qualitative research methods which were: 1) observation; 2) small meeting arrangement; and 3) in-depth interviews with narrative analysis according to induction methods.

The research results were discovered that 1) the problematic conditions of Rajamangala students can defined into 4 types which are irresponsibility, toxic friendship, extravagant spending and disloyalty; 2) the adaptation of the dhamma principles to living conditions of the students in order to resolve the aforementioned problems can be succeeded by applying 4 different principles: Direction 6 principle to raise an awareness of their own duties and responsibilities; the four Gharavasa-dhamma principles (virtues for a good household life) to guide how to make good companions; the principle of solitude to adjust with the extravagant spending lifestyle; and the right livelihood principle in order to remain loyal to own self and others. When the students use these fundamentals and apply to their way of living, they will eventually be able to live in a society happily and peacefully.
