Bang Wua Community: Creating Public Seedlings for Developing Economy of Community

Abstract

This research is an action research that compile the data from Bangwau Community, SamutPrakan Province. The research emphasized brainstorming sessions with the topics decided by the stakeholders from the community with two aims: 1) to create a participation process for developing common good leaders and 2) to present the development model of common good leaders for community economic development.


             The results showed that the creation of participation process for developing common good leaders was obstructed from the previous community conflicts, their inability to understand the meaning and values of common good, the lack of knowledge on laws and the community economic situations, addictions to lotto. After first two initial visits to the community, activities were created during the third and fourth visits to cultivate common good leaders for developing community economy. These activities included group discussions and brainstorming’s, which expanded into knowledge sharing with local monks, government officials, and community leaders, as well as a national model leader that innovated the curbing of lotto gambling with saving. .


             The Development Model of common good leaders for community economic development consisting of 1) Learned from successful model of common-good driven development in other communities. 2) Creating activity for transforming 12 leader Bangwau community have inspiration  the values and reasons for meaningful coexistence to help each other drive local economy. The outcomes of the research included approaches to developing community leaders, model for economic development, innovation for curbing lotto with savings, and creation of the group, titled “Truth of Saving for Developing Economy in Bangwua Community.
