The Guidelines for Promoting Singing Performance of Thai Professional Singers by Buddhist Integration

Abstract
The purposes of this research were to 1) study singing principle of professional singers according to modern sciences 2) study the principles of Buddhism used to promote an effective singing and quality of life of singers 3) study the promotion of singing efficiency of Thai professional singers using integrated Buddhism. This research was qualitative research, collecting data by (1) studying documents related with Satipatthana 4, Phromviharn 4, Sangkhavat 4, and Iddhipada 4 of Theravada Buddhism which was mentioned in Buddhist scripture, tripitaka, exegesis, and related researches. (2) in-depth interviewing to study singing principle of modern Thai songs according to modern sciences. 3) create the guideline for promoting singing performance of Thai professional singers by Buddhist integration. The research findings revealed that
- singing principle was created by combining theories according to modern sciences, consisting of 11 items which were (1) breathing (2) use of the oral cavity, throat, and skull (3) vocalization (4) use of voice (5) singing along with melody and rhythm of music (6) interpreting the lyrics (7) communication (8) creating the imagination for expressing the songs (9) holding and using microphone (10) performing with music band and (11) showing styles, emotions, and gestures.
- Singers have the guideline for developing the singing skills using Anapanasati. Besides, the 3 Buddhist’s teachings, Phromviharn 4, Sangkhavat 4, and Iddhipada 4, were applied and used for promoting their quality of life.
- Brought the mindfulness and sensibility that lead the singers to express the meaning of the songs appropriately and live their daily lives with dhamma.
