The Model of Community Organizations Participation for Buddhism-Promotive Activities in Ubon Ratchathani Province

Abstract

This research aims to study the state of participation, develop and evaluate the participation model of community organizations in Buddhism-Promotion activities in Ubon Ratchathani province. Data were collected by using questionnaires for 399 people in religious, government and private organizations and were analyzed by mean and standard deviation. From then, statistical data was used as a base to develop the model through a focus-group discussion of 20 key informants. It was evaluated by 15 experts. The results were found that: the participation of organizations in the community as a whole is at a high level. The model consists of 7 aspects: 1) planning; Participation in the planning, prevention and implementation of systems that can be practically implemented; 2) decision-making: participation in the development of activity forms, letting people to participate in decision making, supporting resources for dissemination; 3) operational aspects: participation in activity design, network coordination, expecting the temple to be a public area of ​​education and health and creating rules together; 4) benefit: The result is meditation, mind and intelligence, and the awarding of moral merit; 5) evaluation: check budget usage, set up coordination center, evaluation meeting and appoint an evaluation committee; 6) information: using information technology to disseminate activities through modern communication media, public relations media in the community and local information media such exhibition; and 7) decentralization: research on public participation issues, educating and raising awareness for local personnel and encourage the community to promote Buddhism as important. The model evaluation results were found that all aspects are appropriate and possible at a high level.
