Abstract

The Dissertation entitled “The Guideline management of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna meditation center of Somdej Phra Puttajarn (Aj Asapamahathera)” There are three objectives: (1) to study the origin of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna in Thailand, (2) to study the guideline practice of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna by Somdej Phra Puttajarn (Aj Asapamahathera), and (3) to study the Guideline management of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna meditation center of Somdej Phra Puttajarn (Aj Asapamahathera)


The research found that Vipassanādura introduced into Thailand by the propaganda of the Sona and Uttara Mahāthera, the Arahants who were patronized by Asoka the Great. According to project sending the Arahants went out to spread Buddhism 9 lines after the third Tipiaka Sagāyana. The practice of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna learning from these Arahant groups has been relayed successively based on the Tipiaka in Mahāsatipaṭṭhāna Sutta.


The teaching of  Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna of Somdej Phra Puttajarn (Aj Asapamahathera) makes the propagation of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna of Wat Mahathatu has steady growth and able to generate meditation masters and open the Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna meditation centers progressively in the whole country. So it has raised the status as Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna Institute in Mahachulalongkornrajavidayalaya University to follow the royal wish of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn Rama V, who was the founder of this Buddhist Sangha University. For the monks to study the Tipiaka and advanced subjects, particularly, the Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna practice is a requirement of the university. The students will have to practice Kammaṭṭhāna meditation once a year as prescribed so that it is the origin how the principle of Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna practice has managed into the teaching in the higher education level and training the Buddhist missionary monks to teach Vipassanā-Kammaṭṭhāna meditation abroad to the present.
