Reinforcement the Democratic Political Culture of People in Municipality of Ban-Khai District, Rayong Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) to study the democratic political culture of people, (2) to study the problems and obstacles of democratic political culture of people, (3) to study the approaches in enhancing the democratic political culture of People in Municipality of Ban-Khai District, Rayong Province. The mixed-methods research technique was used consisting of qualitative research using documentary research and in-depth interviews with twelve subjects. In the quantitative research, a questionnaire was distributed to 360 members of the sample population. Analyzed in the mean standard deviation and test the pair by Scheffe method.

The research results reveal that people in Municipality of Ban-Khai District have the moderate level of political culture inclining towards quite high level. Regarding the problems and obstacles, it is found to be based on the family, education, and democratic values. The guidelines for enhancing democratic political culture change and gradually develop. The community leaders including local administrative organizations realize the importance of political participation in accordance with the good governance principles to achieve the objectives of the local administrative organizations that is the foundation of democratic development. According to the research results, the researcher has some recommendations on the significant approaches for enhancing the democratic political culture to promote the democracy in terms of contents that are truly the principles of democracy. It is not in the form or structure but it instills people with a way of thinking and a democratic lifestyle.
