Abstract

         The purposes of this research were design to investigate and to compare the performance based on 12 teacher professional standards of the teachers in the schools under the Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 as classified by teacher’s gender, age and educational level.  The study was a mixed method research utilizing quantitative and qualitative approaches.  The sample selected by using quantitative sampling comprised of 181 school teachers under the Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1. The research instrument used for collecting the data was a questionnaire. The statistics used for analyzing the collected data were percentage, mean and standard deviation. As for qualitative approach, the researcher handled an interview to collect the data. The key informants consisted of school directors and deputy directors under the Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, totaling 5 persons.

         The research findings were as follows:

         1. Overall, the performance based on teacher professional standards of the teachers in the schools under the Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 1 was at high level.

          2. According to the comparison results, as classified by gender, the performance based on teacher professional standards of female teachers was at a higher level than their male counterparts’. In addition, the performance level based on teacher professional standards of the teachers with different age groups was different. As classified by educational level, the performance based on 12 teacher professional standards was also different.
