The Effect of Learning Management by Using Six Thinking Hats Technique on Analytical Thinking Skill in Al-Akhlaq Subject for Primary

Abstract

Objective This research aimed 1) to compare the analytical thinking skill of primary school students, year 4 before and after learning al-Akhlaq subject using six thinking hats teaching technique, 2) to compare the learning achievement on al-Akhlaq subject before and after learning using six thinking hats teaching technique and 3) to examine students' satisfaction towards the learning management using the six thinking hats teaching technique.

Methodology The research sample was obtained through a simple random sampling using lottery method, whereby 23 students were selected from the total population of 42 students year 4 in primary school. The study assessed three variables 1) the analytical thinking skill test, 2) the learning achievement test and 3) the student satisfaction assessment form. The data was analyzed by percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-Test.

Research findings The results of the research were as follows: 1) The assessment results of students' analytical thinking skill after learning using six thinking hats teaching technique were higher than before learning with statistical significance at the level of 0.05. 2) The student's learning achievement after learning using six thinking hats teaching technique was higher than before learning with a significant level of 0.05. 3) The student's level of satisfaction towards learning management by using six thinking hats teaching technique was high.

Contributions Instructional management using the six Thinking Hats teaching technique can improve students' analytical thinking skill, so this technique can be applied to the various subjects of Islamic studies for students who lack analytical thinking skill at all levels.
