Abstract

This study aims to explain the concept of marriage engagement in Jordan Personal Law of  year 2010 and Thai Personal Law of  year 2012 with comparison between them, in writing this research, the researcher relied on inductive and comparative method.

The researcher reached in his study, that the Jordan personal law considers the engagement a promise to marry in future, It is not a marriage or a full contract; the women remains a foreign after the engagement. It is not permissible for him to appear on its merits, not being alone with her, and it is not forbidden for her to travel, Thai Personal law came to root and work with it.
