The role of the College of Islamic Studies, Prince of Songkla University Pattani Campus on Understanding Islamic Moderation and Adaptation in a multicultural society

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the role of the College of Islamic Studies at Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus on understanding the Islamic moderation and applying the Islamic moderation to the multicultural society by using qualitative research method; relative documents and non-structured interview including the director of Islamic moderation center, the leader of Islamic moderation course and the person in charge of student affairs. At that point, taking the aforementioned information to analyze on descriptive method for linking with the theory.

Research Results: 1 - College of Islamic Studies, Prince of Songkla University, Patani Campus is playing major roles in Distributing Knowledge and understanding principles of Wasatiyah through seminars on the moderation of Islamic fundamentalism and applied in the multi-cultural society and traditions. 2. To establish seminars on Islamic studies and power of changes towards the development of peaceful coexistence in harmony.3 - To establish seminars for university students in Thailand on the moderation in peaceful coexistence with organizing activities and creating networks between universities under the title of Islamic moderation and power of peaceful coexistence.5 - Finding the central office of moderation at the College of Islamic Studies, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus. 6 – To coordinate moderation of Islamic Studies as a compulsory subject for all the Islamic Studies students to register it.
