COMPONENTS OF AGILE LEADERSHIP AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS

Abstract

This research aimed to study the components of agile leadership among secondary school administrators. A mixed-methods research design was employed in three stages: 1) Synthesizing 10 sources of related documents and research studies and selecting preliminary components with a frequency of at least four, or 40 percent; 2) Interviewing five experts selected through purposive sampling to confirm and refine the components, and considering the interview findings together with the document synthesis results using a combined frequency criterion of at least eight, or 50 percent; and 3) Examining the appropriateness of the components by five experts. The research instruments consisted of a document synthesis form, a semi-structured interview form, and a five-point rating scale evaluation form. Data were analyzed using content analysis, frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that agile leadership among secondary school administrators consisted of five components and 25 behavioral indicators: 1) Adaptability, 2) Teamwork, 3) Decision-making, 4) Creativity, and 5) Self-Leadership. Adaptability and teamwork had the highest equal combined frequencies of 11, accounting for 73.33 percent, followed by decision-making with a combined frequency of 9, accounting for 60.00 percent. Creativity and self-leadership had equal combined frequencies of 8, accounting for 53.33 percent. The overall appropriateness was rated at the highest level, with a mean of 4.85 and a standard deviation of 0.12, while self-leadership had the highest mean score of 4.92. All 25 behavioral indicators met the criterion; 22 were rated at the highest level and three at a high level. The findings can be used as a basis for defining indicators, developing measurement instruments, and formulating development guidelines for secondary school administrators in a systematic and contextually appropriate manner.
