AN APPLICATION OF THE FIVE PRECEPTS FOR DAILY LIFE OF THE ELDERS IN PARAKAM SUB-DISTRICT, PAKPHANANG DISTRICT, NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were as follows; 1. To study an application of the five precepts for daily life of the elders in Parakam sub-district, Pakphanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. 2. To compare an application of the five precepts for daily life of the elders in Parakam sub-district, Pakphanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province in terms of sexes, degrees of education, occupations before 60 years, and abiding in the present time as differently. 3. To presented the suggestions about to promote an application of the five precepts for daily life of the elders in Parakam sub-district, Pakphanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. This is a quantitative research, the samples were composed amount 196 persons, the instrument was questionnaire at the reliability .924, data analysis by package computer program. The statistics were applied as follows; frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, One Way ANOVA (F-test) and LSD method (Least Significant Difference).

          The findings were as follows:-

1. An application of the five precepts for daily life of the elders in Parakam sub-district, Pakphanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province by overview was at moderate level when considered in each aspects found that the aspect of sexual misconduct was the highest average and followed up the aspect of abstain from stealing and the aspect of abstain from intoxicating was the lowest average.


2. An application of the five precepts for daily life of the elders in Parakam sub-district, Pakphanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province found that in terms of occupations before 60 years found that there were different as statistically significance at 0.05, but in terms of sexes, degrees of education, and abiding in the present time found that there were not different as statistically significance at 0.05.


3. The suggestions about to promote on application of the five precepts for daily life of the elders in Parakam sub-district, Pakphanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province almost they recommended that there should beware before speaking, there should train about the advantages and disadvantages of speech.
