Background and Aims: The grassroots economy is fundamental to Thailand’s socio-economic structure but continues to face challenges arising from economic fluctuations, natural hazards, and rapid technological change, all of which contribute to community vulnerability. This study aims to apply resilience-based concepts to develop a conceptual framework that strengthens the capacity of grassroots communities to withstand recover from and adapt to ongoing changes.
Methodology: This study employed a documentary analysis and conceptual synthesis. Key ideas related to resilience were examined in conjunction with contextual characteristics of Thailand’s grassroots economy to construct a comprehensive framework aligned with real community conditions.
Results: The findings indicate that resilience within the grassroots economy is shaped by several interconnected components, including system dynamic, community assets, adaptive capacity, innovation, risk management, participation, and policy integration. These elements were synthesized into the GRDM-7 (Grassroots Resilience Development Model), which comprises seven dimensions that function collectively to enhance community resilience.
Conclusion: The GRMD-7 model provides holistic conceptual framework for strengthening Thailand’s grassroots economy. It emphasizes the effective use of community assets, the development of adaptive capacity, the fostering of innovation, proactive risk management, inclusive participation, and integrated policy support, This model serves as a practical foundation for policymaking, community development, and area-based management aimed at promoting sustainable development.
