Abstract

This experimental study aimed to investigate the effects of cognitive training on decision-making ability and attention through visual search behavior during tennis serves among young tennis players. The participants consisted of 30 youth tennis players aged between 10 and 18 years (13 males and 17 females), selected using purposive sampling. The participants were divided into two groups: an experimental group (n = 15), which received a cognitive brain-training program using the Witty SEM device, and a control group (n = 15), which continued regular tennis training. Visual attention during tennis serves was assessed using eye-tracking technology. Data were collected at three time points: prior to training, after 4 weeks of training, and after 8 weeks of training. The data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, independent sample t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA.The results revealed that the young tennis players who participated in the cognitive training program demonstrated significantly greater improvements in memory, decision-making ability, and attention through visual search behavior during serving compared to those who did not receive the training, at the .05 level of statistical significance. These findings indicate that the Witty SEM cognitive training program can be  effectively applied to enhance cognitive functioning and attentional focus through visual search behavior in athletes.
