The Effectiveness of Behavior Prevention of Depression Program The Theory of Self-Efficacy that Affect Anti-Depression Behavior in The Elderly in Bang Kaeo, Amphoe Mueang Samut Songkhram, Changwat Samut Songkhram

Abstract
The research was quasi-experimental study with two groups pretest and posttest design.The propose was examined the effects of behavior prevention of depression program by Integrating the theory of self-efficacy that affect anti-depression behavior in the elderly in Bang Kaeo, Amphoe Mueang Samut Songkhram, Changwat Samut Songkhram. The sample include 60 older adults. Participants were stratified assigned classified by the proportion of village elders to either the experimental group (n=30) or the control group (n=30). The experimental group received the program (8 weeks), while the comparison group received usual standard program only. Research instrument tools consisted of: 1) The demographic questionnaire, 2) The intervention outcomes included the Perceived Self-efficacy for anti-depression behavior in the elderly questionnaire, the Expected Outcome for anti-depression behavior in the elderly questionnaire, and 3) Anti-depression behavior in the elderly questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive study, paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test.The result found that after received the program, the experimental group had significantly (p < 0.05) higher mean score of perceived self-efficacy in the anti-depression behavior in the elderly with, expected outcome in the anti-depression behavior in the elderly; and
significantly higher levels of anti-depression behavior in the elderly than prior participation the program of intervention group compared with control group (p < 0.05).
The findings indicated that the program could be increased anti-depression behavior in the elderly. Therefore, the healthcare workers should be applied the program activities as a guideline to support and prevent depression in the elderly.
