The Development of Training Course Enhancing Leadership for Lower Secondary Students at Bansuanudomvittaya School, Chonburi Province

Abstract

              The objectives of this research were to 1) develop a training course to enhance leadership
for lower secondary students at Bansuanudomvittaya school and 2) evaluate the use of training course
to enhance leadership by focusing on comparing knowledge of leadership for students before and after
the training, leadership skills and satisfaction towards the training course. The population consisted of 1,125 students and the sample group was a group of 30 student leaders who were the student committee of Bansuanudomvittaya school in academic year of 2020, selected by purposive sampling. The research tools were 1) a questionnaire on the training needs of students, 2) an interview form with those involved in the course development for student leadership, 3) student leadership training course, 4) knowledge test, 5) leadership skills Assessment Questionnaire, and 6) satisfaction questionnaire on training course. The statistics used to analyze the data were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test (Dependent Samples). The results were found that the development of a leadership training course for students consisted of 4 steps: a study of basic information; training course development, course implementation, and evaluation. The training course contained 7 components: principles and rationales, objectives, content structure, duration, activities, media and materials, and measurement and evaluation. The students' leadership knowledge after training was significantly higher than before training at level of .01. The students' leadership skills were at a high level. And the satisfaction towards the training course was at a high level.
