Case study research method was employed, utilizing both literature review and field data collection. Research instruments included a semi-structured interview form, which was used during a focus group discussion with three representatives from the Ban Nam Chiao Community Tourism Enterprise, and a product prototype evaluation questionnaire completed by three product design experts. Knowledge transfer sessions on seashell product making were later conducted with ten local community members. The research results revealed that 1) designing products from locally discarded seashells could be creatively developed into souvenirs that reflect community identity and promote tourism. The product designs were inspired by three signature activities of the Ban Nam Chiao community: Nypa palm leaf hat making and traditional local desserts, releasing "slider crabs", and crafting Hoy Craft jewelry. 2) The most highly rated product prototype, titled “Keep it as memory”. It is an aromatic gel candle featuring miniature sculptures made from white scallop shell clay representing the community's signature activities, placed in a clear glass jar filled with translucent blue gel and decorated with shell flakes at the base. Tourists can customize the decorations, making each piece a unique and personal memento. Product creation process knowledge was subsequently transferred to members of the local community.
Pathra Srisukho, Kittirat Rungrattanaubol, Marumon Lertcumfu, Pattarabordee Pimki; Surapong Panyata; Worachat Angkahiran Copyright (c) 2026 Roi Et Rajabhat University https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/291592 Sun, 26 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Technology Utilization for Soil Productivity Enhancement of Large-Scale Rice Farmers in Sapphaya District, Chai Nat Province https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/294589
The objectives of this research were: 1) to study the personal, economic, and information exposure factors of large-scale rice farmers in Sapphaya District; 2) to investigate technology utilization for soil productivity enhancement of large-scale rice farmers; and 3) to compare personal, economic, and information exposure factors and technology utilization. Qualitative research was employed. The Informants included 20 members of the Ban Phu Din Community-based Tourism and 4 tourism academics, totaling 24 participants. Data was collected through in-depth interviews by using semi-structured interview form and focus group discussions and analyzed using content analysis and situation analysis based on the SWOT framework. The research results were:
1) Ban Phu Din community possesses considerable potential for sustainable community-based tourism management under the leadership of a committee. The community collaborates with various partners,
to enhance residents’ quality of life, and systematically preserves local culture and natural resources.
It promotes organic agriculture and environmental activities alongside service capacity development. Despite limitations in facilities, the overall management reflects participatory and sustainable eco-tourism practices; 2) The community’s strengths include abundant natural resources, a suitable environment for eco-tourism, and strong leadership guided by local wisdom and sustainability principles. Weaknesses include a lack of distinctive tourism activities, limited publicity, and insufficient funding. Opportunities exist to develop new activities, improve service standards, and build networks with nearby attractions, while threats include inadequate infrastructure, underdeveloped landscapes, and limited external support; and 3) The guidelines for enhancing management capacity should focus on strengthening local tourism groups through improved public relations, homestay development, preservation of cultural identity, promotion of environmental learning, and the development of safety-related infrastructure, to elevate sustainable ecotourism development.
Jirachai Yomkerd, Suthira Sitthikun, Winitra Leelapatta, Prayong Kusirisin, Khattiya Kruntakapakorn, Jetsada Ruangsuriya Copyright (c) 2026 Roi Et Rajabhat University https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/291923 Sun, 26 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Development of a Measurement Instrument for Desirable Characteristics of Discipline among Students Enrolled in the Disaster Survival Course, Office of General Education, Mahasarakham University https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/293916
This study aims to: 1) develop and examine the quality of an instrument for measuring the desirable characteristic of discipline among undergraduate students, and 2) assess the desirable characteristic of discipline among undergraduate students. The sample group consisted of 539 undergraduate students enrolled in the course Disaster Survival at the General Education Division, Mahasarakham University. The sample size was determined using Yamane’s formula, and participants were selected through simple random sampling.
Data were collected using a self-discipline assessment form specifically constructed for the course. The population consisted of 253 registered coffee farmers for the 2024/2025 production year. A sample size of 155 respondents was determined using Yamane’s formula at a 0.05 level of precision. Data were collected through structured interview questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, as well as inferential statistics, including cross-tabulation and chi-square tests.

The results indicated that the farmers had an average of 3.45 years of experience in coffee cultivation. The average annual agricultural income was 129,368.71 baht, while the average household debt was 49,099.35 baht per year. Most farmers cultivated Robusta coffee and applied Trichoderma spp. to control root rot disease, as well as Beauveria bassiana for insect pest management. However, coffee production was not solely dependent on biological control agents. Key constraints included limited access to reliable sources of biological products, short shelf life of Trichoderma, improper application of Beauveria bassiana, and insufficient training programs and community-based learning centers. It is recommended that relevant agencies provide continuous hands-on training, establish community-based learning centers for biological agriculture, and promote market support for products derived from sustainable agricultural practices.
Duddao Buttapha, Nareerut Seerasarn, Sineenuch Khrutmuang Sanserm Copyright (c) 2026 Roi Et Rajabhat University https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/296236 Sun, 26 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 The Ideologies of Politicians, Critics, and Protesters Through the Appraisal Framework in CNN Online News on Anti-Asian Discrimination During COVID-19 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/297637
This mixed-methods research examined the ideologies of politicians, critics, and protesters as represented in CNN online news reporting on anti-Asian discrimination during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The dataset consisted of 35 CNN online news articles published between 2021 and 2023, yielding 3,091 evaluative tokens. Adjectives and adverbs were extracted using TagAnt as primary evaluative units and were manually coded according to the appraisal framework. Quantitative analysis was conducted to calculate frequency and percentage distributions of appraisal resources, followed by qualitative discourse analysis to interpret their ideological functions. An inter-rater reliability procedure was implemented to enhance coding consistency. The findings indicated that appreciation was the most frequently used attitudinal resource (47.49%), followed by judgment (44.42%), while affect was the least frequently used (8.09%). Engagement analysis showed a predominance of monoglossic strategies (70.53%), suggesting authoritative positioning in news discourse, while graduation resources were mainly realized through force (69.88%), intensifying representations of racism and social urgency. These patterns suggested that CNN predominantly evaluated anti-Asian discrimination through value-based and moral assessments rather than explicit emotional expression. Politicians were mainly represented through judgment and authoritative engagement, positioning them as institutional actors responsible for policy and governance. Critics were characterized by dialogically expansive engagement and critical judgment, foregrounding structural racism and accountability. Protesters were primarily associated with heightened affect and greater access to graduation resources, emphasizing emotional urgency, collective identity, and demands for social justice. Overall, the study demonstrated that CNN’s evaluative language systematically differentiated ideological roles, shaping public interpretations of anti-Asian discrimination as a moral, social, and political issue during the pandemic.
Chayanee Konchalad, Sutida Ngonkum Copyright (c) 2026 Roi Et Rajabhat University https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/297637 Sun, 26 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 Enhancing English Reading Comprehension of EFL Undergraduate Students through Narrative Texts https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/297819
This study aimed to: 1) investigate the extent to which narrative texts enhance reading comprehension among first-year students at a private university in Bangkok, and 2) explore students’ attitudes toward learning to read through narrative texts. The participants were 25 first-year students at the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology. Narrative texts were implemented with the participants over a period of 10 weeks. The research instruments included identical English reading comprehension tests administered as pretest and posttest, and a reading attitudes questionnaire. The data were analyzed using mean scores, standard deviation, and a dependent samples t-test.

The results indicated that narrative texts significantly improved students’ reading comprehension. The posttest scores were significantly higher than the pretest scores (p < .01). A sequential explanatory approach was employed, which included classroom observations and retrospective interviews. The participants were 47 first-year vocational students enrolled in business English and English communication courses at a university in northeastern Thailand. Quantitative data gathered through an observation checklist with six translanguaging strategies and adapted from the CUNY-NYSIEB Guide for Educators were examined to determine the frequency of translanguaging strategies used during classroom activities in three phases of the PPP method (presentation, practice, and production), and qualitative data were obtained from retrospective interviews to triangulate the observation data. The findings from quantitative data revealed that students mostly employed bilingual dictionaries and online translation tools with high frequency. The use of the internet as a multilingual source, multilingual collaborative work, and language alternation were followed, respectively. Moreover, language alternation and multimodality were also observed as new strategies. The qualitative results indicated that students perceived translanguaging as beneficial for promoting learning, enhancing comprehension, and improving communication flow. The study demonstrated that the translanguaging strategy benefits students’ learning as a cognitive, pedagogical, and communicative resource. Lastly, the findings supported the use of more flexible, supportive language-learning practices in Thai EFL classrooms, particularly in vocational education contexts.
Maneekarn Prommajan, Sutida Ngonkum Copyright (c) 2026 Roi Et Rajabhat University https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/297434 Sun, 26 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700 A Multimodal Discourse Analysis of Short-Form Fast-Food Advertising: Presupposition and Video Transitions in American and British Instagram Reels https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/297544
This study examines verbal and visual semiotic resources in short-form fast-food advertising on Instagram Reels using Multimodal Discourse Analysis (MDA). The dataset consists of 10 videos (5 American and 5 British) published by McDonald’s between 2023 and 2025. A convergent mixed-method design integrates quantitative frequency analysis with qualitative multimodal interpretation. Verbal resources were analyzed through presupposition triggers, while visual resources were examined through video transitions and social semiotics.

The results show that the conciseness function occurs most frequently (39%), with existential presuppositions accounting for the largest proportion (45%), followed by factive presuppositions (27%). Analysis of 371 shot transitions reveals that standard cuts dominate editing practices (57%), followed by overlays (19%) and split screens (7%). Social semiotic patterns indicate frequent use of frontal angles and demand images to enhance viewer engagement. Overall, the findings suggest that short-form fast-food advertisements rely on concise presuppositional structures and rapid shot transitions to construct persuasive product-focused narratives in highly compressed digital formats.
Nitirat Boonnithi, Sukhum WasunthornSophit Copyright (c) 2026 Roi Et Rajabhat University https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 https://so03.tci-thaijo.org/index.php/reru/article/view/297544 Sun, 26 Apr 2026 00:00:00 +0700
