The Development of Thai Reading Comprehension for Main Idea Skill of Grade 5 Students by Using SQ4R Activities

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: To develop SQ4R reading comprehension learning activities, study the effectiveness index compare reading ability and to study the satisfaction towards the SQ4R learning activities of Grade 5 students at Anuban Roi-Et School. 50 of samples group was grade 5/8 students in second semester of the academic year 2022. Office of the Roi - Et Primary Educational Service Area, Region 1, 1 classroom, obtained from cluster random sampling. Data were collected using quizzes and satisfaction questionnaires. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standarddeviation. And paired t-test statistics.

            Main findings; Learning activities plan SQ4R efficiency was 91.54/87.30, the effectiveness index was 0.5773, After learning, it was found that Grade 5 students had a statistically significant increase in reading comprehension in Thai than before learning (p<.001) with an mean score of reading comprehension in Thai language increased by 4.40 scores (95%CI; 3.72, 5.15) and the students' overall satisfaction was at the highest level.
