A Study of Perception, Actions, Problems and Guidelines on Promotion of Authentic Learning Assessment of the Teachers under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization

Abstract

          This research aimed to study perception, actions, problems and guidelines on promotion of authentic learning assessment of the teachers under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization. The sample consisted of 235 teachers under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization, obtained through simple random sampling. The sample size was determined according to the Taro Yamane’s Formula. The instruments comprised an interview form and a questionnaire with the item-objective congruence index ranging from 0.80 to 1.00, the item discrimination from 0.22 to 0.70, the reliability of the questionnaire was 0.94. The analysis of data employed basic statistics, t-test and F-test for hypothesis testing, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient analysis.

The results were as follows:

                   1) The teachers in the schools under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization had their perception, actions and problems of authentic learning assessment , as a whole, in the high level;

                   2) The teachers in the schools under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization, having differences of sex, educational qualification, teaching experience, and the size of the school in which they worked, had no difference in their perception, actions and problems of authentic learning assessment

                   3) The analysis of the correlations between perception and action, perception and problems, and actions and problems of authentic learning assessment of the teachers in the schools under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization revealed correlations with statistical significance at the level of .05, but the correlations were from rather low level to moderate level.

                   4) The teachers in the schools under Maha sarakham Provincial Administrative Organization agreed with the guidelines on promotion of authentic learning assessment in the highest level on the aspects of budget, material and equipment support for authentic learning assessment, making a manual of guidelines on authentic learning assessment , PLC network building, exchanging of learning experiences of innovations related to authentic learning assessment, training, seminars and workshops on authentic learning assessment , and procurement of books, textbooks, sources of study and references of authentic learning assessment.
