This research aimed to examine the perceived factors influencing Japanese food consumption behavior among consumers in Pathum Thani Province. The sample comprised 400 residents of Pathum Thani Province, selected by simple random sampling. The research instrument used in this study was a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, and multiple regression.
The findings revealed that consumers’ perceptions of Japanese food consumption were highest across all dimensions. Specifically, perceptions of ingredient quality were rated highest (mean = 4.51), with respondents placing the greatest importance on appropriate portion size relative to price, as well as on standardized and fresh ingredients. In terms of price and value, perceptions were also at the highest level (mean = 4.51), with emphasis on price appropriateness relative to quality and on promotional offers during special occasions. Regarding employee service quality, perceptions were rated highest (mean = 4.49), with respondents highlighting promptness, politeness, attentiveness, and the ability to create a positive impression as important factors. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that perceptions of ingredient quality, price, and value, and employee service quality had statistically significant effects on Japanese food consumption behavior at the 0.05 level.
These findings suggest that consumers in Pathum Thani Province place high importance on ingredient quality, price value, and service quality when consuming Japanese food. The results may serve as useful guidelines for developing effective marketing and service strategies for Japanese restaurants in accordance with consumer needs.
