Abstract

This study aimed to (1) examine the level of acceptance of environmentally friendly products and (2) analyze patterns of environmentally responsible consumption behavior among students at Chandrakasem Rajabhat University. The sample consisted of 400 undergraduate students, with the sample size determined using Taro Yamane’s formula at a 5% margin of error. The respondents were selected through proportionate accidental sampling. Data were collected using a rating -scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics within the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB).

The findings revealed that the respondents demonstrated a high level of acceptance of eco-friendly products. Functional factors, particularly product utility, value for money, and price affordability, were identified as the most influential determinants of purchase intention. This indicates that the target group prioritizes personal utility over environmental considerations. In addition, the study identified an eco-behavior paradox: students expressed positive environmental attitudes but continued to consume products with high levels of plastic packaging. This behavioral inconsistency is largely influenced by product design, prevailing social trends, and short-term promotional strategies that emphasize convenience.

Based on these findings, the study recommends that the university integrate Green University policies with practical measures to improve access to high-quality, reasonably priced, eco-friendly products.Product development should emphasize a balance between environmental sustainability and functional convenience. To promote green consumption among Generation Z, product strategies should integrate utility, economic value, and environmental friendliness, supported by systematic communication that reinforces product standards and encourages sustainable consumption behavior within higher education institutions.
