Product Development Strategy for the Kra-chaeng Community Basketry Group Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

This study aimed to: (1) analyze the potential of the Krachaeng community basketry group in Bang Sai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; and (2) propose product development strategies for the Krachaeng community basketry group. The research population consisted of 25 participants, including members of the Krachaeng community basketry group and relevant stakeholders in Krachaeng Subdistrict. The samples were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and workshops. Strategic analysis frameworks, including the McKinsey 7S Framework, PEST analysis, SWOT analysis, and the TOWS matrix, were employed to synthesize the data, while descriptive analysis was used to present the findings.
The results indicated that the development strategies for enhancing the potential of the Krachaeng community basketry group could be categorized into four strategic approaches. 1) The SO (aggressive) strategies include SO1: developing identity-based, eco-friendly basketry products; SO2: developing cultural and learning-based tourism routes; and SO3: establishing public–private partnerships to strengthen community product branding. 2) The WO (corrective) strategies consist of WO1: providing training programs for product development and design; WO2: developing a community brand and logo; WO3: promoting online marketing and enhancing digital skills; WO4: establishing effective group management systems and product standards; and WO5: encouraging youth participation. 3) The ST (preventive) strategy includes ST1: developing cost models and improving production efficiency. 4) The WT (defensive) strategies comprise WT1: enhancing community skills to cope with technological changes and market competition; WT2: planning workforce succession; and WT3: identifying target customer segments to increase sales opportunities in highly competitive markets.
