Workplace Happiness and Its Impact on Organizational Commitment Among Municipal Office Staff in Surin Province

This research aims to: (1) examine the level of workplace happiness among municipal office staff in Surin Province, (2) study the level of organizational commitment among these staff, and (3) analyze the impact of workplace happiness on organizational commitment. The sample group consisted of 345 municipal office staff in Surin Province. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed through frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis for hypothesis testing.
The findings revealed that most respondents were female, aged 30-40 years, single, holding a bachelor's degree or equivalent, working as civil servants, earning an average monthly income of 15,000–30,000 baht, and had 6–10 years of work experience. Overall, workplace happiness was rated at a high level ( = 4.38). Among its dimensions, the highest mean was for job involvement (
= 4.47), followed by job satisfaction (
= 4.36), and the lowest was for psychological attachment to the organization (
= 4.32). Organizational commitment was also rated at a high level overall (
= 4.26). Among its dimensions, the highest mean was for emotional commitment (
= 4.33), followed by normative commitment (
= 4.33), and the lowest was for continuance commitment (
= 4.11). Hypothesis testing indicated that workplace happiness dimensions, including job involvement, job satisfaction, and psychological attachment to the organization, had a statistically significant positive impact on organizational commitment at the 0.05 level.
