Abstract

This study aimed to achieve three objectives: (1) to examine the context of research articles included in the systematic literature review, (2) to synthesize antecedent and mediating variables influencing the operational efficiency of various business types, and (3) to propose quantitative research hypotheses illustrating the relationships between antecedent, mediating, and dependent variables affecting the operational efficiency of full-service restaurants. The research analyzed 249 articles published between 2015 and 2023, focusing on variables influencing operational efficiency across different industries. The articles were retrieved from Google and Google Scholar. A data recording form was utilized as the research instrument, covering two key areas: (1) the context of the articles, including publication year, geographic region of data collection, and publisher, and (2) antecedent and mediating variables affecting the dependent variable.

The findings identified one antecedent variable: entrepreneurship, and two mediating variables: innovation and competitive advantage that significantly influenced operational efficiency. Based on these variables, a conceptual framework for quantitative research was developed, outlining the directional relationships among variables and proposing nine quantitative research hypotheses.
