Abstract

This study aimed to explore the factors affecting employee engagement and to measure the level of engagement among staff at the National Health Insurance Office Region 13 Bangkok (BKKNHSO). A mixed-method research design was adopted, blending qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. In the first phase, in-depth interviews with four executives and focus group discussions with ten operational-level staff were conducted to identify factors influencing employee engagement. The data was analyzed using content analysis. In the second phase, a questionnaire with an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (a measure of the relevance of each questionnaire item to the study objectives) of 0.95 was administered to 90 BKKNHSO staff members. Basic data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and the relationships between the factors and employee engagement were determined using inferential statistics, particularly multiple linear regression analysis.

The research findings revealed that the employee engagement level at the BKKNHSO was high, with an average score of 4.20 (SD = 0.50). The engagement factors included job characteristics, personal and social aspects within the organization, organizational system factors, and organizational environmental factors. Notably, organizational environmental factors and job characteristics significantly influenced employee engagement, with predictive coefficient values of .582 and .204, respectively, significant at the .01 level.
