Guidelines for Tourism Development of Community Villages in Khong Chiam District Pho Sai District and Mueang District in Ubon Ratchathani Province with Participation

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the community context and potential of tourism resources in the village communities in Khong Chiam district, Pho Sai district, and Mueang district; 2) to study the participation in management community village tourism in Khong Chiam district, Pho Sai district, and Mueang district in Ubon Ratchathani province; 3) to study the development guidelines for community village tourism in Khong Chiam district, Pho Sai district, and Mueang district in Ubon Ratchathani. It was a qualitative research with participation of the communities. The samples were community members, guidelines for tourism development in the community villages in Khong Chiam district, Pho Sai district, and Mueang district. The tools used in this research were the property interviews, meetings, and seminars of all stakeholders in the tourist village communities. Descriptive statistics were used for data summary analysis.

The results of the research revealed that 1) community context and community potential were farming and fishing in the river; with prawns and fish as the special natural resources; with local knowledge such as traditional massage; local wisdom and local art and culture such as rice goddess worship, drum dance, annual making merit. The weaknesses included the lack of experience in managing tourism, lack of knowledge of marketing channels, communication and public relations. The potential tourist attractions were water and agricultural way of life, wisdom of the community, woven products made of bamboo; 2) to develop a model of village tourism which was divided into two parts: 2.1) village tourism preparation such as a meeting to clarify the guidelines, and providing tourism knowledge to the communities, and 2.2) types of tourism on the basis of the potential of community-based tourism: 1 day and 2 days 1 night.
