Abstract

This research aimed to develop indicators for media innovation evaluation in Thailand. The research methods were 1) Documentary research technique in studying information from Digital News Initiative Fund (DNI Fund) by Google.com and Ranking Digital Rights (RDR) including international academic articles and books and 2) Delphi technique with 19 experts who involved in media innovation in Thailand.

The result found that there are 10 indicators that could evaluate media innovation in Thailand; 1) openness; openness to using 2) effect and change; the effect and change in society 3) user; promoting participation of the user 4) newness 5) creator and entrepreneur 6) good governance and digital accountability 7) function 8) freedom; respect for the freedom of users 9) technology and experience, and 10) privacy.

After testing each indicator with ten media innovations, it suggests that the innovation should divide into the category such as process innovation, position innovation, paradigmatic innovation, product innovation before considering factors of the indicator, or categorized by type of innovation before scoring the indicator. This could be useful to select suitable indicators for each category of media innovation.
