Abstract

This study aimed: 1. To examine the current situation and needs for entrepreneurial leadership development, 2. To identify and validate the underlying factors of entrepreneurial leadership development, and 3. To develop and evaluate the suitability of an entrepreneurial leadership development model for teacher education students toward sustainable development. A mixed-methods research design was employed in three phases. In Phase 1, the current situation and development needs were explored through in-depth interviews with 21 key informants selected using purposive selection. Phase 2 involved the components were synthesized using a questionnaire administered to Bachelor of Education students majoring in Early Childhood Education and Primary Education. Based on a minimum criterion of 10 participants per parameter across 44 parameters, 507 participants were selected through quota sampling. In Phase 3, the entrepreneurial leadership development model was developed and evaluated by 11 key informants selected using purposefully selected method.

The findings indicated that Phase 1 identified seven major categories and 26 subtopics related to the current situation and development needs, which were synthesized into five preliminary components: vision building, innovation, risk acceptance, continuous learning, and digital and technological skills. In Phase 2, second-order confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that the proposed factor structure showed a good fit with the empirical data. Four core components were identified: (1) entrepreneurial leadership, (2) digital transformation, (3) participation in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and (4) innovative design thinking. Phase 3 resulted in the EDIT Model, an entrepreneurial leadership development model for teacher education students oriented toward sustainable development. The model integrated four core dimensions, E: Entrepreneurial Leadership, D: Digital Transformation, I: Innovative Design Thinking, and T: Transformative SDGs and incorporates a four-stage development process: vision adjustment, skill enhancement, innovation creation, and value creation for sustainability. The overall suitability of the EDIT Model was rated at the highest level. Among the evaluated dimensions, the model's core components received the highest rating, followed by the development process and evaluation standards.
