THE COMMUNITY PROMOTES GOOD CITIZENSHIP IN A DEMOCRATIC WAY

Abstract

This article presented good democratic citizenship. For a sustainable democracy to succeed, it is essential to cultivate citizens capable of self-governance. This foundational principle emphasized respect for human dignity, equality, and dignity, respect for rights, freedoms, and fair rules in a democratic society, responsibility for oneself, others, and society. A good citizen in a democracy must be aware of their roles and responsibilities as all Thai citizens. These include loving the nation, religion, and monarchy, protecting and preserving national interests, obeying the law, engaging in compulsory education, serving in the military, not violating rights and liberties, exercising their right to vote or vote in a referendum independently, conserving the environment, paying taxes, and not supporting corruption, as stipulated in the 2017 Constitution. Characteristics of a good democratic citizen include freedom, self-reliance, equality, acceptance of differences, respect for the rights of others, social responsibility, understanding democracy and democratic participation, and adherence to democratic principles in living according to the law. Good citizenship must not be passive. Promoting these principles will enable citizens to effectively govern themselves and support sustainable democratic development.
