POTENTIAL MODEL DEVELOPMENT OF FOREST PROTECTION AND DEVELOPMENT UNIT HEAD FOR THE SUSTAINABLE FOREST RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Objectives of this research were: 1. To identify potential components of forest protection and development unit head for the sustainable forest resource management, and 2. To develop potential model of forest protection and development unit head for the sustainable forest resource management. Methodology was the mixed methods. The research tools for the qualitative study were in-depth interview script and focus group discussion whereas the research tools for quantitative study were questionnaires. The participants were samples formed by the management and officers of Royal Forest Department from the central and regional offices in Thailand. The qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. For quantitative data, descriptive statistics consisting of frequency, mean and exploratory factor analysis were explored by using application of software package for social sciences.
The research finding indicated that 1. The potential model of forest protection and development unit head for the sustainable forest resource management consisted of 7 components including 1) working knowledge 2) working skills 3) working attributes 4) work planning 5) managing the working unit 6) leading the working unit and 7) controlling work 2. The potential model of forest protection and development unit head for the sustainable forest resource management was verified in agreement with the experts in the focus group discussion.
